I’m used to being on the other end of the microphone. Over the years I’ve coordinated and written many client scripts for tv interviews and segments, and I’ve gotten pretty comfortable with that. But being the voice that gets broadcast out to thousands of people was a little out of my comfort zone. So, you can imagine my surprise when I was asked by Grand Haven Area Public Schools to do a voice-over for their kindergarten roundup program. Me? Surely you want me to write the script, not be the person that’s showcased in it…right? Nope. I was about to become the voice of Grand Haven Area Public Schools kindergarten roundup program. Well, for a few weeks at least. Despite the fact that I was uneasy about hearing my own voice on the radio, I was excited to go through with the process and see what happens behind the scenes. I brought along my very own six year old assistant and we were greeted with a tour of the WGHN studios, which is located right along boardwalk with waterfront views. I even received some really helpful tips from veteran radio host, Jesse Bruce, who kindly answered all the questions I’ve ever wanted to know about the inner workings of a radio station. This guy was basically a walking encyclopedia of music facts. At the end of the day, this was a really fun and informative experience and I’m glad we were able to be a part of it. Hopefully our piece of the puzzle made a difference in the overall Grand Haven advertising campaign for the kindergarten roundup program. There are a lot of exciting things happening at the Grand Haven Schools, starting with the well deserved blue ribbon recognition.
